Ballet

I just tried out for ballet. Which is really just a placement class. It was pretty stupid. The combinations at tryouts are always really simple because they're just checking your technique. Plus the class is really short, only an hour and fifteen minutes. I need at least 2 hours of rigorous class, but we'll just have to see if it improves. They have these people from Russia teaching so it's pretty neat.

And I know this sounds arrogant, but I didn't really see anyone up to par with my studio. But I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Some teachers might find my ballet studio too flowy and not enough of the athleticism of Balanchine. Others might say we don't stress technique enough. If I had been judging the class there were girls with potential if they had proper training. Now this will sound really asshole-ish, but I think that for technique there were maybe two other girls at my level, and for artistry maybe two or three. But that might not be what the teacher wants. I have bad feet and only okay turn out, but then again other people had horrendous turnout. Some people were very unprofessional looking. They had baggy pants on, and socks, and their hair was all crazy. This is ballet so hair must be in a bun unless it's too short.

THe thing I'm really afraid of is that they'l think I'm too flowy, or that I look weak because I try to make things look musical and easy. But I hope they don't mistake that for weakness.

Math was really boring, and we're learning equations I already know, so I hope that later on I actually get to learn something. Once again I'm the only asian one in my classes.
